What does your “Say So” say?
We know that joy comes from the Lord, He graciously gives it to us. But there are many days where I just want to sit in my sadness.
There are times where things aren’t going my way that I just want dwell there, in my attitude. It’s rather silly, I’m afraid. But, I think sometimes I want to be in my own little pity parties..
don’t you.
Why?? Why do we do this to ourselves?? It’s not a healthy way to live.
Sometimes we find comfort in being miserable. Sounds strange, but it is so true.
Ask yourself this question. “Where do I live “emotionally”?
_________. Whatever your answer, that is your place of comfort. We live where we’re comfortable. It takes effort to get out of your comfort zone.
But why do we do this? What good does it do when everyone around is miserable watching you be miserable..
It’s time we CHOOSE JOY!!
I remember years ago there was a girl in the youth that no matter what happened she seemed to have an attitude about it, she was rude, unkind to those younger than her, and just not pleasant to be around. Many times she was excused by,”that’s just her” and everyone had to tolerate her, which really made it miserable for others. I always found that to be a bad excuse for her bad attitude and bad spirit. Sadly she didn’t get the help she needed and isn’t in church anymore. Such a danger is using excuses instead of remedies.
No one helped her with her issues and no one helped her to see God as God and find her joy in salvation.
It’s a bad excuse to blame it on your personality, parents or any other reason. People can’t see Christ through our bad attitude, sharp tones or an unkind spirits.. Plus, it’s a burden for those around having to carry the weight of your bad behaviour.
So how do we fix this problem ?
Recognize who He is !!
Recognize who you are in Christ!!
Know you’re not alone
Make no excuses for wrong doing.
Choose Joy
Psalms 107:2
“Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,…”
We can “say so” with our words,
We can “say so” with our actions,
We can “say so” with our modesty
We can “say so” with our spirit
We can “say so” with our example
I could go on and on.. but I’ll just sum it up with this..
With out the joy of the Lord, we are weak and prone to hurt those we love, prone to excuse sin instead of repenting of our sin.
Nehemiah 8:10
“..for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
It’s time we stop excusing our bad attitudes, it’s time that our “say so” says that we are redeemed.
So, What does your “Say So” say?
I want mine to say “redeemed” so I want to always Choose Joy!!
