Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Have you ever been woken up with a something on your mind?

This morning I woke up and the very first thing I thought about was the lovely coffee creamer I had made yesterday.  Not my husband, not my children, not “thank you Lord for this day”.. NOPE, i woke up thinking about PUMPKIN SPICE COFFEE CREAMER..

It is really good though.

WHO DOES THIS?

Please tell me I am not the only one that has done this before.

We cannot buy the liquid  flavored coffee creamer here in Scotland. When we moved over I loved the powder flavored coffee mate from America, and many friends sent me some. But since living here,  my tastes have changed. They don’t put all the chemicals in the food here, like they do in the USA.  Now the powdered stuff just don’t taste good to me anymore, I can taste all the chemicals.

I love single or double cream in my coffee, but drinking that everyday causes my clothes to shrink.  I love a Pumpkin Spice Latte, especially this time of year when the weather is changing.  But as much as I love coffee, it's just not as good with my hubby being gone. We spend our mornings over coffee plus he makes the best coffee.

But with him being gone, I have only had a Pumpkin Spice Latte twice. I haven’t gotten my license to drive so I can't just run to the coffee shop and get one. I have to just wish for one.  UNTIL NOW… MWahahaha!!   I found a recipe online for Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer and I made it yesterday.  (And its better than Starbucks..shhh)

And this morning, I woke up with Pumpkin Spice on my mind, and you know what I did?

Without any reservations, I went straight to my kitchen and made me a pot of coffee and poured that Pumpkin Spice Creamer into my coffee and I smelled it, sipped it and I melted right back into my bed. The coolness of the morning and the rain outside, made the coffee and covers, just a bit more cozy. IT IS SO GOOD!!

I was really enjoying my cup of coffee until I looked over and saw my bible sitting on my nightstand. The thought came to me “What if I had woken up with a craving and desire for the Word of God like I did that pumpkin spice creamer?”

“What would God do for me, had my morning started off with reading His Word.

So many mornings I do wake up with the thought of reading my bible but I get busy and forget to go back to the Word of God.

There was no way I was forgetting that Pumpkin Spice Creamer this morning. I could taste it, smell it and I remembered what it tasted like and I wanted it and I made sure I got it.

I was convicted because, how many mornings do I wake up in the morning and have a thought of scripture on my mind, and crave and desire that sweet fellowship with Jesus, but I allow myself to get distracted and some days i even pass it by completly. I know the sweetness of Gods word and the sweet smelling savor that fills my heart with joy and gladness, yet I let things get in my way.

See Coffee Creamer is something my flesh wanted, something that would satisfy a craving. Oh that we would get that same kind of craving of the word of God and the fellowship we can have with Him and that we wouldn’t let anything stop us or distract us from getting that craving and desire filled by his precious word.

Now I have woken up with scripture on my mind or a song in my heart, but this morning I didn’t. This morning I woke up with Coffee on my mind. Oh Me, Oh My!! I reached over and grabbed my bible, I opened it up to the book of Psalms and was encouraged as I read one of my favorite verses..

Psalm 37:4

“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart”

The Lord encouraged me as I sipped on my yummy coffee and read his word.

Usually i enjoy a cup of coffee with my husband, but today the Lord joined me for a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

He cares about the little things, and just think, I would have never realized this, had I not woken up with coffee creamer on my mind.  The Lord is so good and he cares so much for me, that He even cares about me wanting a Pumpkin Spice Latte. He showed me that in the moment of me drinking my Pumpkin Spice Latte, that he was glad for me to be enjoying that cup of coffee, see He had provided everything I needed to make it, because HE knew that the desire of my heart at that moment was to have a Pumpkin Spice Latte. My God cares about the small stuff and even though I didn’t start my morning out the way I think I should have, maybe I started my day out the way God wanted me to, so he could show me that he cares about my desires, even if it is Pumpkin Spice Latte.

No matter how you are feeling, He will lift you up.
