God’s Masterpiece

Psalms 19:1

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” We look up into the sky and see a beautiful rainbow and we talk about the glory of God. When the sun rises or the sun sets we are in awe of the beauty that surrounds us.

As we walk along the hills and look across the valleys though we know that a valley is a hard place to live, we remember the hard times of being in a valley and although there are some good things about a valley and many times we understand that in life valleys are sometimes hard and dry, still when we look across the land and see it, we at know it is a beautiful place. It is Gods beautiful creation.

We watch as the robin flies over our heads or the squirrel runs up a tree, we love to see the deer as it struts across the field or the sheep grazing in the grass. Our heart feels like it nearly stops when we see a rose in full bloom and just as amazing as the rose is the bumble bee as it moves from flower to flower. And we look at it all and we talk about how beautiful each of these things are that we’re created by Almighty God.

We look at our children and we just cannot believe something so perfect and so beautiful belongs to us. Our aging parents though they are getting wrinkles and their hair has turned great, not only do we see a life well lived, we see they are beautiful and God the creator made them, just the way they are. Everywhere we look we see Gods handiwork and we are in complete awe of everything. Until.. we look at ourselves in the mirror. Why is every creation around us beautiful? Why is every scene in creation a thing of wonder and beauty, yet when we look at ourselves we say, ugh! .. Do you really think that the God of heaven the one that loves you enough to send his only son to die on the cross for you, do you think that after hundreds of thousands of things and animals and people that he has created that he would decide to take less time or less care in creating you? Do you think you were created wrong? God doesn’t make any mistakes and you are fashioned and created the way you are because God created you to be you. We need to not be conceited or prideful, but we need to remember that God makes no mistakes. Psalms 139:14 “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” We were not created to decide what is wrong with our looks to to even be unhappy with the reflection in the mirror. We were created for God and by God. It is all about praising God, He is our creator and he does all things well. So the next time you look in the mirror, I want you to first know that you are beautiful, and second ask yourself, does my spiritual reflection, reflect Christ? Remember, you aren’t ugly and God didn’t mess up with you, he makes no mistakes, remember you are a Masterpiece, you are God’s Masterpiece!!
